BANKSIA

The members of this genus range from tall trees to low shrubs and even ground covers. They are amongst the most spectacular flowering plants bearing large cylindrical cones of many brightly coloured flowers.
Most Banksias need well drained soil and prefer to grow in sun or dappled shade. The flowers may be used in dried arrangements.
The Banksia family is accustomed to impoverished soils in nature; therefore, fertilizers rich in phosphorus should not be used. If yellowing of the leaves should occur, use iron chelates after watering the plant well first.
