Blue Card (Working With Children Check) Compliance

Fairhill Native Botanic Gardens, Nursery, Farm Shop Café Restaurant, and Fairhill Nature’s Playground are committed to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all families, children and visitors.
We are a family-owned business and have always prioritised the safety and security of all of our guests especially children.
From 20 September 2025, changes to Queensland’s Blue Card (Working With Children Check) legislation extend to amusement parks, festivals, shows and similar attractions. As Fairhill provides children’s activities, events and entertainment, we are classified under these requirements.
Our Commitment from 20th September 2025
Fairhill complies fully with the Working With Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (Qld) and the updated Blue Card system.
All staff, contractors and volunteers whose roles involve entertainment, supervision, recreation or direct engagement with children hold a current and valid Blue Card.
This includes entertainers, activity leaders, performers, ride operators, and staff supervising or hosting children’s events or parties.
Fairhill’s owners and operators also maintain Blue Cards, as our usual business activities include operating children’s attractions.
Who Does Not Require a Blue Card at Fairhill
Café, restaurant and farm shop staff providing food, beverages or retail products only
Technical and maintenance staff (e.g. lighting, sound, gardening, equipment) with no direct child-related duties.
