Our Story
A lifetime in the making
From the windswept isolation of Antarctica to the rolling parks of Devon and Cornwall — every step led the Wright family here, to Fairhill.
Born from a love of nature, animals and play
For over half a century, Fairhill has been more than a nursery and botanic gardens — it has been nature's playground and a gardener's paradise. Behind it are two lives shaped by a quiet conviction that all life is interconnected — and worthy of respect.

Founder & Creator
Angela Wright MBE
As a child, Angela lived a life rich with imagination — surrounded by farm animals, dogs, ponies, gardens and open land. She climbed trees, built dens in barns, and dreamed of creating something even more magical.
That dream became Crealy Great Adventure Parks across Devon and Cornwall — and grew into a major UK tourism attraction. Angela was the first female Vice Chairman of BALPPA, was invited to chair the association, and was awarded an MBE for services to tourism at Buckingham Palace by HM Queen Elizabeth II.
After moving to Australia she recreated her childhood vision again — this time at Fairhill — without glyphosate, synthetic toxins or artificial ingredients. Mother of five and grandmother of four, her work remains grounded in one belief:
All life is interconnected — and worthy of respect.
Property Director
David Jonathan Wright
David is a biologist, adventurer and land steward whose life has been shaped by a deep respect for the natural world — and the quiet discipline of working with it rather than against it.
After graduating in biology, David joined the British Antarctic Surveyand spent three years living and working in Antarctica. Through the long polar winters his team was “frozen in” — no ships, no aircraft, complete isolation in one of the harshest environments on Earth. It instilled a lifelong calmness and an ability to solve complex challenges under pressure.
Returning home, David joined Angela in building Crealy. Today, as Property Director at Fairhill, he is sympathetically restoring this unique wildlife estate while building its future.
A place not imposed upon the land, but gently revealed.

The journey here
Every step led to Fairhill
Where it began
Angela grew up surrounded by farm animals, dogs, ponies, gardens and open land — climbing trees, building dens in barns, and dreaming of creating somewhere even more magical.
David at the bottom of the world
After graduating in biology, David spent three years with the British Antarctic Survey — “frozen in” through polar winters with no ships, no aircraft and complete isolation. That discipline and calm shaped everything that followed.
Crealy Great Adventure Parks
Angela founded Crealy with a clear mission: to encourage respect for animals and help children find courage through play. Together they grew it into one of the UK's best-loved family attractions.
An MBE for services to tourism
Angela was awarded an MBE by HM Queen Elizabeth II — the first female Vice Chairman of BALPPA, and invited to be the first woman to chair the association, founded in 1936.
Arriving in Australia
Angela and David emigrated to Australia, travelling the country for four months with children and dogs before settling at Noosa's Sunshine Beach.
Putting down roots
The family moved to Bamboo Park and then bought Fairhill — a vision of regenerative farming and horticulture weaving together native plants, animals, education and true farm-to-table dining. No glyphosate, no synthetic toxins. Real food, real soil, real connection.
