Ways to get involved
Three lovely ways to be part of life at Fairhill.
Local volunteers · Tuesday mornings
Fellowship of the Gardens
Local volunteers meet at Fairhill on Tuesday mornings to do meaningful work in the Gardens. Whether it’s invasive weed control, restoring flower beds, pruning or planting, it’s always a fun time. Starts at 8am, stopping at 10am for complimentary coffee and goodies freshly baked from the kitchen, then continuing until 12 noon.

Farmsitting
We welcome Farmsitters. This is a lovely stop where you can enjoy the best of the Sunshine Coast, taking a break from constant travelling. We provide a level site with electricity and water connections available. You’ll need your own accommodation as no house is provided but you can use a bathroom, kitchen in the nearby house. Involves animal care: chickens, ducks, goats. Can help with restoring botanic gardens, nursery and farm if keen. 2½ hours a day help appreciated. Suit couple or family. Dog welcome, on a lead as we have livestock. Minimum 1 month, maximum 3 months. Previous farmsitters recommend — we have met many lovely people. You’ll take part in our Fellowship of the Gardens on Tuesdays, which is always fun.

Volunteers — flood remediation
We appreciate hands on help with flood remediation works on the land. Unpaid, but we provide free shared accommodation, good food, wifi and all utilities — and you’ll get to live and work somewhere genuinely beautiful while doing meaningful, satisfying work. Sunshine Coast, 20 minutes from the beach. You must have your own vehicle or transport — we do have bikes you can use to get to the nearest town with public transport (15 minute bike ride), but you’ll need transport of your own to get around. Involves planting, gardening, weeding, whippersnipping, restoring botanic gardens, nursery and farm. Can involve animal care if you have previous experience with livestock. Depending on duties, can qualify for WHV 88/179 days. Suit couple/friends. Minimum 1 month, maximum 3 months. Works well as an introduction to Australia if you’ve just arrived, or a break between travelling to regroup and save on expenses. Previous Workawayers have returned and recommend — we have met many lovely people. Paid work often available locally. You’ll take part in our Fellowship of the Gardens on Tuesdays, which is always fun, and meet with other people from all over the world.
