The Animal Farmyard

Meet the Fairhill Guinea Pigs

Nine guinea pigs live in the Animal Farmyard at Fairhill, five girls and four boys, and they are some of the gentlest friends you will make on a visit. Our Rangers will introduce you. Here is who you will meet.

Ginger Alvin, a ginger English Crested guinea pig, held by a Fairhill Ranger

Fairhill's aim

Increasing respect for animals and nature through hands-on, entertaining education

Holding a guinea pig gently, feeding it, and learning what it needs is often where that respect begins. It is why our guinea pigs are part of every morning in the Animal Farmyard.

Come and say hello

Visiting our guinea pigs

The guinea pigs are part of Cuddle Corner & Egg Collecting, a Ranger-led session at 9.30am and 10.30am each morning. Hold the latest hatch of chicks, feed the guinea pigs, meet the goats and collect the eggs. Hands-on with the whole farmyard.

Cuddle Corner is undercover, so a rainy morning is still a good morning to visit. See Fairhill Adventures for the full day in the Animal Farmyard and how to book.

Thinking of guinea pigs at home?

We recommend Miss Piggy's Lair

If meeting our guinea pigs has you dreaming of your own, Miss Piggy's Lair is a guinea pig rescue here on the Sunshine Coast, giving guinea pigs a second chance at a happy, healthy life. We recommend them for guinea pig adoption, and for everything your guinea pigs need once they are home.
