A botanic garden with a farmyard

Searching for a family-friendly wildlife park near the Sunshine Coast? Fairhill Adventure Gardens is a native botanic garden, nursery and café with a farmyard, rather than a zoo or wildlife park. Children meet our farm animals up close with a Ranger beside them, and native wildlife lives freely in the gardens around you.

Gates open at 8am. The Ranger-led farmyard sessions run every half past the hour through the morning, with two more in the afternoon, and there is plenty to do at your own pace in between.

Native wildlife

Wildlife in the gardens

The gardens are home to more than 73 bird species. Look for turtles at Turtle Lake and water dragons sunning themselves on warm stones, and keep an eye out for native butterflies. These are wild animals, so every visit is a little different.

Fairhill takes part in the Land for Wildlife program. Read more in birds, butterflies and turtles at Fairhill, or explore the Wild Nature realm and the rainforest.

Questions families ask

Where can I find family-friendly wildlife parks near the Sunshine Coast?

If you'd like your children to meet animals up close, Fairhill Adventure Gardens at Ninderry is a native botanic garden with a farmyard. Our Rangers lead farmyard sessions every day, where kids cuddle the baby mini goats, hold the newest chicks and feed the guinea pigs, and native birds, water dragons and turtles live in the gardens. Fairhill is not a zoo or wildlife park, so there are no exotic animals or zoo enclosures.

Is Fairhill a wildlife park or a zoo?

No. Fairhill is a native botanic garden, nursery and café with a farmyard. The animals children meet are farm animals: baby mini goats, chicks, chickens, guinea pigs and ducks. Native wildlife lives freely in the gardens, so what you spot changes from day to day.

Which animals can kids meet at Fairhill?

The baby miniature pygmy goat kids in the Kids' Barn, the mini goats in the Pets' Paddock, the latest hatch of chicks, the chickens, the guinea pigs and the free-range Muscovy ducks.

Can children hold or feed the animals?

What ages is it suitable for?

All ages, with adult supervision.
